U.S. Open of Surfing at Huntington Beach: El Salvador’s Surf City Business & Investment Hub
Huntington Beach is one of those places where surfing is everywhere. During the U.S. Open of Surfing, the beach fills with athletes, brands, surf fans, and people from all over the world.
We joined the event alongside six other Salvadoran developers and real estate companies, bringing a little bit of El Salvador’s surf and real estate scene to Huntington Beach.
A familiar place for El Salvador’s surf community
For anyone who follows surfing, Huntington Beach is a familiar name. And for El Salvador, there is an especially strong connection.
Over the past few years, El Salvador has become increasingly visible on the international surf circuit, with major WSL events, professional surfers, and Surf City putting the country’s coastline in front of a much wider audience.
We met people who already knew El Salvador because they had surfed here, followed competitions, or had seen places like El Zonte, El Sunzal, and Punta Roca through the international surf community.
Bringing a little bit of El Salvador to Huntington Beach
Beyond the conversations about real estate, it was simply fun to see El Salvador represented in a place so deeply connected to surfing.
Huntington Beach has its own surf culture, history, and identity. El Salvador has a very different one, but there is a common language between the two: the waves, the lifestyle, the people who build their lives around the ocean, and the curiosity to see what is happening in other surf destinations around the world.
For us, that was the best part of being there.
Just good conversations, familiar faces, new connections, and a chance to share what is happening back home.

The U.S. Open of Surfing was a good reminder of how far El Salvador’s visibility has come within the international surf community.
A few years ago, many people were discovering the country’s waves for the first time. Today, El Salvador is a familiar name to surfers around the world — and that attention is naturally opening the door to conversations about everything else happening here.
For us, it was a great few days in Huntington Beach, surrounded by people who share a genuine connection to the ocean.
