La Cajita Express Surf Contest at El Zonte: Local Talent, Community, and Surf Culture in El Salvador
El Zonte, one of the most iconic surf destinations in El Salvador, came alive yesterday with the energy of the La Cajita Express Surf Contest, held at La Cajita Kitchen. The event brought together local surfers from El Zonte and El Tunco, highlighting the raw talent and strong community that define the surf culture along Surf City.

Hosted right in front of La Cajita Kitchen, the competition created a vibrant and laid-back atmosphere where locals, visitors, and surf enthusiasts gathered to watch some of the area’s best surfers take on the waves. Events like this continue to position El Zonte as a growing hub not only for Bitcoin adoption but also for authentic surf experiences in Central America.
The contest was proudly supported by SatstreetSV and Max & Stacy Productions, whose involvement reflects the intersection of surf culture, community, and the evolving Bitcoin Beach ecosystem.

In the women’s category, Julissa Castillo took first place, demonstrating confidence and flow across the waves. On the men’s side, Brayan Perez stood out by sweeping all major awards, including Best Air, Best Combo, and Best Maneuver — a remarkable achievement that highlighted his versatility and command in the water.
Winners were awarded cash prizes, adding a competitive edge to the event while continuing to support local surf talent in El Salvador.

Beyond the competition itself, what stood out most was the sense of community. Events like La Cajita Express bring together a tight-knit network of locals, expats, and visitors who share a connection to surfing, coastal living, and the unique lifestyle that El Zonte offers.
As Surf City continues to gain international attention, grassroots events like this play an important role in preserving the authenticity of the local culture while showcasing the incredible talent that exists within the community.
