10 Things to do, Eat and Experience in El Zonte (aka Bitcoin Beach)
By now, if you are interested in El Salvador, you have probably heard of our surfing paradise, better known as El Zonte, or Bitcoin Beach. Here are 10 things you must do once you get here.
1. Meet-up with Rivas for a tour
Rivas as the community knows him, is founder of El Zonte S-cool — an English and Spanish speaking tour guide with more than 10 years of experience and a wealth of knowledge about the history of the country. He will take your experience to a whole other level. Some of his tours include: a moto tour on the coast of El Salvador, a coffee tour (a must-do!), Cascadas de Tamanique Tour, and a few other unforgettable experiences that will give you an idea of everything El Salvador has to offer. You can contact him here.

2. Watch the sunset over ceviche and a Pilsner at Olas Permanentes
Olas Permanentes is a popular hotel, restaurant, and lodge with a beautiful, beachfront location directly in front of El Zonte’s left surf break. We recommend heading there for sunset on the horizon — enjoy a ceviche and a Pilsner, the local beer of choice, while you are there!

3. Lunch at Olor De Mar, best view of El Zonte’s right surf break, ‘The Point’
Sit down and make yourself comfortable at Olor de Mar in El Zonte — you’ll have a front row view of one of the most popular surf breaks in El Salvador. The food is great (from the fish to the steak to the chicken sandwich!) — it’s one of the more ‘fine dining’ experiences in El Zonte, but we still often show up shoeless :).

4. Breakfast at Tecos, the best Tipico in town
Teco’s is probably one of the first and oldest restaurants in El Zonte. It is located right of the surf break. on the point. Super casual, local, but delicious — an iconic spot in El Zonte. You must have breakfast here — $2.50 for the best Tipico you’ll find in town — with fresh casamiento, queso fresco, fried platanos and eggs. We always get a licuado too — natural mango and banana. Delish!
5. Surfing lessons at Esencia Nativa
