Get to Know El Tunco Beach
Playa El Tunco, as locals know it, got its name because the iconic rock in the middle of the ocean had the shape of a pig; and yes, Tunco means ‘pig’ in local slang.

El Tunco beach is in the heart of Surf City in La Libertad, El Salvador. It is home to “La Bocana” — where the most exciting and prestigious surf competitions take place.
What to do in El Tunco?
El Tunco has developed a small beachfront town that offers a variety of places to eat, to stay and things to do. You can easily take surf lessons in almost every corner of the town; and the best thing yet, the waves are right in front of you. So, you don’t have to worry about carrying your board for long distances.

If you are looking to connect with nature, we suggest you take yoga lessons at Balance Surf & Yoga — located in the center of town. This peaceful and jungle-like space sets the perfect ambience to unwind and reconnect.
